Project objectives
Cultural Heritage Documentation Centre project was created with the aim of organizing Museum’s work in delivering non-museum activities: scientific research and study, documentation, preservation, scientific presentation, including museum interpretation tools, material objects and intangible elements of cultural heritage; work with objects of historical and cultural heritage included in the State list of historical and cultural values of Belarus, and activities to perpetuate memory of those who lost their lives in the defence of their homeland and preserve memory of the victims of war.
Cultural Heritage Documentation Centre project operates in the museum on a permament basis.
Project description
Cultural Heritage Documentation Centre of the Battle for Dniepr Museum includes a range of activities:
- studying of modern commemorative practices and ideological mechanisms of modern Belarusian historical policy
- studying of the history of the Shoah tragedy in Loev and its presentation through online maps.
1. Public interactive map “Perpetuating the memory of those died in World War II on the territory of the Loevsky district” is an online map with markers of military burial places, places of worship and memorials on the territory of the Loevsky district. This section includes the database "WW2 casualty lists by name of those buried on the Loevsky district territory".
2. Interactive map “Perpetuating the memory of the Shoah” is an online map with markers of places associated with the Shoah tragedy in the town of Loev and traces of its Jewish life. This section includes the database "Materials of the Extraordinary State Commission for the Establishment and Investigation of the Crimes of Nazi Invaders on the Territory of the Loevsky district."
3. Database of residents of Loev and Loevsky district taken for forced labor to Germany during the Second World War, consisting of two subsections:
- "Database of stolen residents"
- "Name lists (in accordance with the materials of the Extraordinary State Commission)"
4. In 2020, a project was launched to collect contemporaries' memories of relatives who died in the Second World War. Project materials are available here.

A series of projects on perpetuating the memory of the victims of WW2 on the museum's website.
