With this legacy of memories and mutual support, the Foundation embeds in the purposes of its mission statement: “the defence of dignity, rights and justice”, “the fight against all types of intolerance and racism”, “the support and the defence of citizens rights”, and “the study and research of new ways of living together”. Great attention is reserved to the culture of peace, to the experience of dialogue-construction in conflict scenarios and to the world of children and teenagers. We aim, in fact, to enhance the work of those who, with their commitment and their research, have helped and help the populations and weaker individuals to cope with the violence and the traumas of war.
The Villa Emma Foundation works in the fields of historical research, teacher training and educational planning. It supports and organizes cultural events, focusing on stories and memories of World War II, current conflicts, the dialogue between “differences”, and cross-cultural issues; it maintains relationships and exchanges both in Italy and abroad, with institutions that have the same purposes and methods, and participate - on the national and European level – to the construction of networks of places of memory.
